Fifteenth Annual Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award Nominations Open

The 2018 Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award program is underway and accepting nominations from businesses throughout the state. The award, now in its  fifteenth year, celebrates the accomplishments and the impact family-owned businesses have on our communities.

Last year’s group of family business nominees was a very diverse field representing many different industries. Dairy farms, Realtors, manufacturers, contractors, veterinarians, dentists, and plumbers. Six nominees were over 100 years old. Nearly half of the 32 nominees have made it to the third or greater generations. According to The Family Firm Institute, only 12% of family businesses make it beyond the second generation. This award celebrates the innovation, impact, and resilience of family businesses in Wisconsin.

Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award Nominees Announced


MADISON, WI APRIL 7, 2017: An award honoring family businesses in Wisconsin has drawn nominations from across the state. 31 companies are competing for the Fourteenth Annual Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award. Awards will be given to Small (under 25 employees), Medium (25-99) and Large (100+) companies.

From toilet seats to bow ties, lawn mower blades to rock concerts, this year’s nominees represent a diverse set of livelihoods. There are first through sixth generation family businesses. Three of the nominees businesses were started in the late 1800s. They come from industries including auto dealers, entertainment, association management, cheese production, construction, banking, manufacturing, and dentistry.
